[The Mysterious Tree]

Nice Job for your first Flash

This was nice for your first flash. But there is a lot of room for improvement. The main character was drawn alright, but you could have added more detail to him. Shading him was a nice idea, hencing the fact he looked more realistic. A great feature you included was the shadow that the main character had. It made the animation look more realistic and more imaginative. As you said in your comments, this animation revolves around a plot that is quite weird but at the same time interesting. I would like to see more of what happens to this character and why the tree dissappears as it apparently did. The music suited the animation very well. It went with the flow of the movie and was a great choice. But there was a lack of sound effects. To have further enhance the movie's detail, you could have added "step sounds" for the character as he walked along the grass. Look for a grass step sound and put it everytime he walks. There is also a flaw that I noticed, but is coherent because of the reason this is your first flash. The main character's walking cycle was a bit awkard and you need to work on it a little bit more. If the main character is a baby, then I suggest leaving it as it is because that is technically the way babies walk, but if the character is a grown child, then I suggest making him walk more coherently to that of a little kid. Another thing to improve on is the background. Next time, try to draw the background yourself because the animation looks a little crummy with the pixelated background. Overall, not bad for your first flash and keep practicing, because practice makes perfect. Hope to see a second part to this, and good luck on your future submissions.

A Nice Short Animation

It was short indeed. And there is also room for improvement. The graphics were nicely drawn and shaded. You did a good job on those. The style was nice as well. I found this to be quite orignial hencing the fact that I have never seen anything like this before. The mood of the animation was dark and depressing, exactly what a weird animation should include. I understand this was made in four hours, but there is lack of storytelling. What I mean by storytelling, I am not saying a narrator literally telling the story, but some pictures that convey what has happened and why it happened. Causes leading to that event, in other words. The music fitted the animation great and it was a perfect choice for this animation, but there was a lack of sound effects. I believe if you would have added some sound effects, it would have greatly enhanced the movie's creepiness. Overall, good job and good luck on your future submissions.

Summary Points: Good Graphics, Good Style, Great fitting music, but there was a lack of sound effects, Very nicely done to be made in four hours.

I based a lot of the style on David Firth or "Doki".
The sound effects i dont think would have worked tough. Not that i put sfx effects into every movie i make but i dont think it would have suited as the movie went very fast from one cut to the next so it would have been a soundeffect every second.

[A Very Blob Festivus]

Very well done!

This animation shows you guys have very great animation skills. The blob was very well animated. Great use of Frame by Frame techniques. The graphics were good, but some lacked more detail. For example, you could have shaded the candy-cane. The style was great! I found this to be very orginal and entertaining. The music fitted the animation great. The only reason why the score for the Sound category is somewhat low is because there weren't any sound effects. It would have been great if you would have incorporated some kind of sound effect to the blob. Such as a squishy sound of some sort. This animation was very smooth in terms of animation and I hope to see more from you guys sometime soon. Good luck on your future submissions.

[I'm so Bored III]

Nice layout and organization

This submission was very well orgainized in terms of buttons and menus. The graphics were nice. The Shrooms and the snowman were very well drawn and shaded. Good work on that. The style of the cartoons were original and well done as well. The music fitted very well with the Shroom comics, therefore making the submission more humourous. The only piece of violence I saw was in the drawing of the snowman. Which was only blood. The interactiviy in this was great. It was an awesome idea to incorporate the space key to function as a page advancer. Very nice job on that. Humor wise, it was ok. Some jokes were well executed, others weren't that well. Overall, nice job on this and good luck on your next submission,

Needs a little bit more work...

But otherwise, ok! The graphics weren't that good. You could have at least tried to add more detail to Wilson and could at least have shaded him. The blankets of the bed weren't drawn too good niether. The drawing of the man was a bit crummy as well... Animation wise, it was pretty good. But a flaw in the animation was when the tears fell. It looked very crummy. Next time try making it Frame by Frame and a bit more smooth. The sounds clips from the actual movie were heard clear and there wasn't any problem with the sound. This movie was pretty good, but next time try improving your graphics and spiffen up your animation skills. Good luck on your future submissions.

Thanks alot for the advice! I've added some basic shading to the toon, I'm definately going to put more effort into the animation of my next work (this one was quite a quick job).

Where were the improvements?

I remember seeing this in the portal a long time ago, but where were the improvements? And also, you should have made it at least more longer. I'm sorry to say this, but this will probably get blammed. Next time, try improving the walking cycle and the graphics, and the length. Good luck on your future submissions.

I dont remeber submitting this before... But anyway, I did change it from when I made it, I made it look a little better and added some better smoke for the cig, and made his words come up after like in real old movies. Thanks for the review.

Needs more work...

But otherwise, ok. The graphics need some work. You could have shaded the stick figures head, the toaster, the mirror and the breads also. The walking cycle of the stick figure wasn't bad, but if you work on it a little bit more, you can make it better. The music fitted the movie well, but in my opinion, you shouldn't have repeated it once it was over. It made the flash seem repetive in the aspect of sound. If you work a little bit more on your submissions, I gurantee you'll keep getting better and better. Good luck with your future submissions.

Great drawings

But unfortunately, not a lot of animation to it. The drawings of the characters were great. I found them to be quite original and nicely executed. What I didn't like, was the song. I just didn't sorry. But the nice graphics made up for it. I also didn't find it to be funny either. But thats just me. Anyway, I believe you have talent and you should use it. Use all of those characters and make an animation with them and I promise you it will be a great submisson. It might even reach the 50 best list in the portal. Other than the lack of animation, and the music that I didn't like, you did and ok job. Good luck with your future submissions.

Great!

The best part to this flash was the voice acting. It was great. Another thing that was good was the style you had here. Great drawing of the characters. I could also see anime elements incorporated into this submission. Again, very nice job on choosing the voice actors and congratulations on them for doing a very good job.

Nice job

The best thing to this flash was the music. It suited the flash very nicely. Although I know these were meant to be comics, there was still some parts where you could have animated a little bit more. An example is the following. In the third episode, you could have at least animated the cat's tale. You could have made it wiggle or something. Another flaw in this flash were the graphics. Although the characters were nicely shaded and drawn, other parts were drawn kind of jagged. An example of this are the capes that Bill had to choose. No offence, but they looked like raisins. You could have also shaded the cat that was on the tree. Other than all those stuff, very nice job. As said above, very nice job on the selection of the music. Good luck on your other submissons, and to the rest of the people of Sunday Comics and Toons.
